I first came across Semust on LinkedIn, back when it was just starting to gain attention. Curious, I decided to give it a try—and it’s now become one of my favorite tools. What I appreciate most is how it handles many tasks that I used to perform manually with a single click, which makes my job significantly easier. Seeing how quickly it has evolved since the first time I used it also inspires confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions About Semust MCP

What is MCP and Why It Matters

It connects AI assistants to external data sources and removes the need to write a separate integration for every tool.

With this capability you can connect data from a platform like Semust to Claude or Cursor with a single configuration. Instead of opening dashboards and exporting data, you can put your questions directly to the assistant.

What You Can Do with Semust MCP

You can list keywords, see pages losing traffic, catch keywords close to the first page, and get your monthly report with a single prompt.

By running multiple tools at once, you can request a full-scope SEO audit and have the assistant pull all the results in sequence and summarize them for you.

Installation: Claude Desktop and Cursor

Start the installation by grabbing your API key from the Semust dashboard. Clone the semust-mcp repo from GitHub or download it as a ZIP, then run the pip install -r requirements.txt command.

Finally, add the Semust MCP entry to the claude_desktop_config.json file, or under Settings → MCP Servers for Cursor. When you reopen the app, you'll see the 'semust' server and 13 tools under the tool icon.

13 Tools at a Glance

The data tools are list_projects, get_keywords, get_pages, and get_performance. All of them access your Search Console data and support date-range, device, and country filters.

The report tools are cannibalization, content decay, winner/loser, striking distance, long-tail, low CTR, thin content, monthly summary, and questions. Each one answers a specific SEO question.

Security and Your API Key

Thanks to the MCP infrastructure, your account key never leaves your personal computer and is not sent to Anthropic or any other third party.

Claude only sees the response to the request you make. Operations like saving raw data to a database or sharing keys never happen.

Typical Use Cases

Agencies can ask the assistant to prepare a monthly summary before client meetings and produce a quick report.

Content teams, in turn, can list the questions users tend to search for and discover organic topic ideas for blog posts.

Open Source and Contributing

Semust MCP is open source on GitHub under the MIT license. You can read the code, fork it, and add your own tools.

You can report bugs by opening an issue or propose new tools via a pull request. You can find the code at https://github.com/semust/semust-mcp.

Why Semust MCP?

You no longer have to go back to dashboards to do SEO analysis. With Claude or Cursor open, you can reach your data in the same window.

When Semust data combines with Claude's interpretation, weekly reports, content ideas, and quick wins land in front of you within seconds.
