Looker Studio Connector

Use your Semust reports in Looker Studio — every element of a report in one data source.

The Semust connector lets you use the reports you build in the report builder in Looker Studio: choose a report and every element of it arrives in one data source. You can also connect a single element as its own data source — Search Console, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Ads, rank tracking, AI Overview, Bing, Yandex, backlink tracking, technical SEO and Google Maps.

When to use it

When you want to show a client a dashboard in your own branding, combine Semust data with other sources in one report, or use Looker's filters and calculated fields.

Setup

  1. Create a key

In Semust, open the report you want in Looker and choose Connect to Looker Studio from the settings menu at the top right (or Project Settings › Integrations › Looker Studio). Leave This project only on; the key can then read only that project's data. Click Create key and copy the key — it is not shown again.

  2. Open the connector

In the same window, click Open in Looker Studio and authorize the connector.

If Google shows a "Google hasn't verified this app" screen, choose Advanced › Go to Semust. The connector only asks for permission to call the Semust API; it does not access anything else in your Google account.

  3. Paste the key

When Looker asks for a key, paste the one you copied.

  4. Choose the report

Opened from a report, the project and report are already selected. Otherwise pick your project, then one of the Rapor · … options at the top of the list, or Tüm raporlar (all reports). Click Connect; the fields are listed.

  5. Build your charts

Each element arrives as a group of fields starting with its name (e.g. Top Queries · Query, Top Queries · Clicks). A chart uses the fields of one element. Elements keep their Semust settings (campaign, filters, row count); you choose the date range in the Looker report itself.

You place the charts in Looker

Google does not let an app create charts in Looker, so a report's data is carried over, not its layout. After changing the report (adding an element), edit the data source in Looker and click Refresh fields.

The connection's status shows under Project Settings › Integrations: when Looker last pulled data, with which key and from which report.

Security

  • Looker stores your key in your own account; it is not passed to people you share a report with.
  • With This project only on, the key cannot see your other projects.
  • You can see your keys in the same window, check when each was last used and revoke one with a click. Data sources using a revoked key stop immediately.
  • Keys are valid for 365 days by default.
