Keys and connection status

See the status of your Looker Studio connection, and create, replace and revoke keys.

Connection status

The Looker Studio card under Project Settings › Integrations shows the connection next to your other integrations.

On the cardMeaning
Bağlı (connected)Looker Studio pulled this project's data in the last 30 days.
Last data pullWhen Looker last asked for data.
KeyThe name and first characters of the key in use (e.g. Looker Studio · smk_AbCd…).
SourceThe report or data source used most recently.

Looker has no "connected" moment of its own — the key is pasted into Google's screen — so Semust sees the connection when Looker pulls data. The card updates at most once an hour; if you just opened a Looker dashboard, refresh the page after a few minutes. If nobody opens the dashboard for 30 days the card goes back to Connect; that is not an error, and the last data pull date stays visible.

The card's Connect or Configure button opens the key window.

Creating a key

Create a key from a report's settings › Connect to Looker Studio menu or from the Integrations card.

  • This project only (default, recommended): the key reads only this project's data. Turned off, it reads every project you have access to.
  • Keys are valid for 365 days.
  • A key is shown only once. If you close the window without copying it, create a new one.

Replacing a key

Looker keeps your key in your Google account and does not ask again while the key is valid. To switch to a new key:

  1. Create a new key

Create the new key in Semust and copy it.

  2. Revoke the old one

In the Existing keys list of the same window, click Revoke next to the old key.

  3. Refresh the page in Looker

Looker sees that the old key is no longer valid and asks for the new one. If you see an "invalid key" message once, refresh again; the key field opens.

You don't need a new key to switch projects: a key with This project only turned off lists every project you can access.

Revoking a key

A revoked key stops immediately; every Looker data source using it stops pulling data. Use the last used date in the list and the Integrations card to see which key is in use.

Who sees what

  • Your key is stored in your Google account; it is not part of the report's settings and is not passed to people you share the report with.
  • A Looker data source runs on your credentials by default: people you share the report with see the data in the charts, never your key. To make each viewer use their own key, change the data source's Data credentials to Viewer's.
  • The connector talks to the Semust API only and does not access anything else in your Google account.

The "Google hasn't verified this app" screen

Until the connector is listed in Google's connector gallery you may see this warning when you first authorize it. Choose Advanced › Go to Semust to continue.
